This document sets out Sm8rtHealth’s platform business purpose and technical architecture. Its purpose is to provide vendors with a birds eye view of the platform design, security, hosting and scaling capabilities and safeguards.
Business context
- Sm8rtHealth is an Insurtech that specialises in providing SaaS-based solutions to the global life and health insurance industry, featuring health risk assessment for insurance applications. ‘auto-underwriting’
- The solution is delivered utilising ‘Sm8rtHealth’ or “SM8” a SaaS platform designed and owned by Sm8rtHealth LLP.
- Sm8rtHealth is a ‘multitenant’ solution, via a SaaS business model, cloud-hosted on AWS. The base knowledge base is configured for each tenant, with each tenant having its own/separate Business Channel or EC2 Instance utilising a common Sm8rtHealth code-base.
- The Sm8rtHealth software was architected, developed, configured and deployed by Sm8rtHealth’s software development team, who also set up the AWS infrastructure and provide the ongoing technical services covering software maintenance, platform enhancements, AWS infrastructure management, security, backups and disaster recovery.
- The software development team leadership has a combined 50+ years of experience in the development of n-tier web-based solutions for the life/health insurance industry, with extensive domain knowledge. The team’s coding practices place an emphasis on defensive programming, programming for maintainability, scalability and extensibility, and defence in depth (as pertaining to the individual layers in a layered architecture).
- To ensure that Sm8rtHealth as deployed for clients on AWS is ‘cyber-secure’, Sm8rtHealth has implemented a Software Development Life Cycle program (‘SDLC’).
- The program is designed as an ‘extension’ to Sm8rtHealth’s pre-existing Privacy and Security policies.
- The SDLC utilises the services of cyber-security specialist, Phew. As an independent third-party provider, Phew will implement a comprehensive who provide security-related services to support the SDLC and the Sm8rtHealth SaaS program.
